Concept Of Mean Median Mode. In mathematics and statistics averages can be found in three ways – mean median and mode. The mode is the value height in our case that occurs most frequently in the data set. Its not typically used in statistics and we wont cover it further here. In this Lecture Concept of Mean Median and Mode with its use is explained using examples. For example suppose you have the numbers 3 7 10 and 16. The terms mean median mode and range describe properties of statistical distributions. You add all of the numbers in the set and divide by how many numbers are in the list. The value of a term when expressed as a variable is called a random variable. If there were 2 different numbers in the middle in an even numbers series the Median would be the average of both numbers.

The mean is the average where the sum of all the numbers is divided by the total number of numbers whereas the median is the middle value in the list of given numbers numerically ordered from smallest to biggest and mode is the value of the number which occurs most often in the list. Mean median and mode are numbers that represent a whole set of data or information. To find the mean you take a set of data and calculate the sum of the data after that you divide the sum by the number of pieces in the set. You add all of the numbers in the set and divide by how many numbers are in the list. When the data are normally distributed the median and the mean will be very close to each other.
